PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Another teenager is dead in Philadelphia’s ongoing gun violence crisis. Police are looking for two shooters who opened fire on a crowd in the Cecil B. Moore neighborhood.

Shortly before 9 p.m. Thursday, police said a 16-year-old was standing outside along Montgomery Avenue, near 23rd Street, with several others — including young children — when a gray car pulled up. Two young men got out and fired into the crowd.

The 16-year-old was shot several times throughout his body. He was taken to the hospital, where he died about 15 minutes later.

Police later identified him as Nafis Betrand-Hill.

No one else was hit or physically injured.

The two shooters got back in the car and sped off. Officers saw the car and chased it, but they quickly lost sight of it. They later found the car abandoned at Glenwood Avenue and Dauphin Street, about a half-mile away from the scene. It was towed to the police lot as part of the investigation.

Detectives said one of the suspects was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, black pants and white sneakers. The other was in a royal blue hooded sweatshirt and blue and black sneakers. Investigators are searching for surveillance footage.

Anyone with information about the shooting is urged to call police. Tips can be submitted by calling or texting 215-686-8477. Tips can also be submitted anonymously online.

So far this year, 120 people have been killed by gun violence. The victim in Thursday night’s shooting is the sixth individual under the age of 18 to be shot and killed this year.
