PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A 17-year-old boy was fighting for his life Thursday evening after being shot nine times in Philadelphia's Germantown neighborhood.
Police say that shortly before 1:30 p.m. Thursday, someone shot the teen in his back, arms and legs near Ashmead and Wakefield streets.
He was rushed to the hospital in critical but stable condition.
Police say an arrest has been made.
Two other teen boys were shot at about 5:50 p.m. Thursday near the corner of South 13th and Webster streets in South Philadelphia.
One 15-year-old was shot twice in the rear end, while the other 15-year-old was grazed in the right elbow. Both were listed in stable condition.
Those teens are the latest in the growing number of children falling victim to the city's escalating gun violence crisis, where there have been more than 1,000 shooting victims overall this year in Philadelphia.
