PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Thousands of mail-in and absentee ballots in Philadelphia are at risk of not being counted because they are missing dates or signatures.

The Philadelphia City Commissioners posted lists of the names of voters whose ballots are missing critical information.

Almost 2,000 ballots are missing a date on the outer envelope. About 350 others may have an incorrect date.

More than 150 ballots are missing a signature, and another 1,000 are “naked,” meaning they were not placed in the blue privacy envelope.

Incorrectly submitted mail ballots may not be counted come Tuesday. The Pennsylvania Supreme Court ruled last week that county boards of elections cannot count absentee and mail-in ballots if they lack accurate, handwritten dates on their return envelopes.

Philadelphia voters on these lists can instead request a replacement ballot by going to the County Board of Elections office inside City Hall, Room 140. A replacement ballot must be requested by the end of Election Day.

Voters can also cast a provisional ballot but only if they were unable to request a replacement ballot at City Hall.
