PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — After a series of thefts around the city, Philadelphia police are offering some tips to help stop package pirates from stealing Christmas.
During the holiday season when so many packages are left outside, thefts are more likely to happen. U.S. Postal Service delays are also making it harder to track when those packages will arrive.
Philadelphia police released surveillance footage this week showing some thieves came on foot and some in cars, but all of them left with goods that weren’t theirs.
So, police say if you’re not going to be home, you could have a neighbor keep an eye out or have your packages delivered to their place or somewhere else where someone will be home.
If you have to go out for work, you could also consider shipping packages to your office.
And police say using a package delivery lockbox to keep your packages safe is also not a bad idea.
