UPPER DARBY, Pa. (KYW Newsradio) — From tax payments to applying for permits, Upper Darby Township has a new centralized location for community resources.
Officials there cut the ribbon Wednesday to officially open the One Center, on the bottom floor of the Upper Darby Township Licenses and Inspections Building at Garrett Road and Long Lane.
Upper Darby Mayor Barbarann Keffer says the new space will better serve residents, businesses, and property owners’ needs.
“This space has been empty since 2011, when the municipal branch of the library moved to its current location on Bywood Avenue,” said Keffer. “When I first visited the space at the start of my administration, it was used for storage. I saw the potential of this location and I am pleased to finally return the space to the public.”
Township resident Robert made a tax payment there Wednesday.
“It’s located right in the center, the heart of [the township],” Robert said. “Parking is right here. Everything is easy to handle. Do everything in one place and that is good.“
There are future plans for the building, which follows Americans with Disabilities Act standards for accessibility, to hold community meetings and seminars in the space.
Keffer says the township’s constituent service team will continue to provide assistance through email and phone as well.
