PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A Bucks County man is charged with taking part in the Jan. 6 U.S. Capitol insurrection.
Federal investigators said they were able to identify 68-year-old Gary Edwards, 68, who is from Churchville, after they were sent screen shots of his wife’s Facebook posts.
“Okay, ladies, let me tell you what happened as my husband was there inside the Capitol," she wrote, according to court documents.
She allegedly goes on to describe a relatively peaceful scene, saying her husband was chatting with police, whom she describes as “very calm” at that moment.
“The people sang the Star-Spangled Banner (twice) then started chanting 'Whose house? Our house,'”, she reportedly wrote. She added when they were asked to leave, they did.
The FBI affidavit has several screen shots of a man they say is Edwards in different parts of the Capitol, including an office.
Edwards is charged with:
- Entering a restricted building
- Disorderly conduct
- Disruption of official business
- Violent entry and disorderly conduct on Capitol grounds
- Parading, demonstrating, or picketing in a Capitol building
