PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Upper Merion police say they've arrested two teenage girls they say stole a car from a store parking lot near the King of Prussia Mall, then threatened to kill a woman who was still in the car.
It happened Jan. 2 at about 5:50 p.m. in the parking lot of the Walmart on North Gulph Road in King of Prussia, police say.
A 54-year-old grandmother was in the passenger seat of a car waiting for family members who were in the store.
“These two came up and forcefully took the vehicle with her in the car,” said Upper Merion Police Lt. Declan Coyle.
“A short time later they let her out of the vehicle, but they did threaten to kill her if she would contact police.”
The woman was found safe. Coyle says she’s not from the United States.
The car was recovered later that day in the Brewerytown section of Philadelphia.
The two juveniles, age 13 and 14, were arrested Friday night. They were charged with robbery, kidnapping and other offenses. They're currently being held at the Montgomery County Youth Center.
