Released on January 5, 1973, today is the official 50th anniversary of Bruce’s double Platinum studio debut. Greetings from Asbury Park, N.J., has since gone on to become one of longtime and newly minted Springsteen fans’ most favorite albums, featuring the classic singles “Blinded By The Light,” and “Spirit in the Night,” as well as “Growin’ Up,” “It’s Hard to be a Saint in the City,” “For You," and more.

It's Hard to Be a Saint in the City
As a special celebration of the album’s release, the Bruce Springsteen Archives and Center for American Music at Monmouth University in The Boss’ home state of New Jersey, will host a daylong symposium open to the public on Saturday, January 7, featuring musicians who performed on the record; E Street Band bass player Garry Tallent, original E Street keyboardist David Sancious, and original E Street drummer Vini Lopez. Springsteen’s former manager, Mike Appel, will also be in attendance.
Fans can expect panel discussions, interviews, book signing, a mini-documentary on the making of the Greetings from Asbury Park, N.J with an exclusive interview from Bruce, and performances of the album’s tracks by local musicians. Click HERE for further info.
"This event kicks off a series of 50th-anniversary events that will bring attention to Springsteen's earliest accomplishments in the recording studio and contextualize the historical importance of each," Eileen Chapman, Director of the Bruce Springsteen Archives and Center for American Music explains. "This symposium is the first of many coming down the road."
Springsteen's latest offering, Only The Strong Survive, was released in November 2022 featuring 15 cover tracks recorded in his New Jersey studio following his 2020 Letter to You sessions.
