LISTEN NOW: Jason Aldean says new album ‘feels familiar, but sounds different’
Available now, fans have access to 14 fresh tracks by Aldean with the arrival of his 11th studio album, Highway Desperado. While still sticking to his Georgia roots and delivering music his longtime fans will love, Aldean was also eager to push himself outside his comfort zone to keep things fresh.
“I think for every album, the key is to always try to go in and kind of reinvent yourself,” he shared with Audacy. “After 10 albums it gets kind of hard to do.” For this album, the “reinvention” came through being involved in more songwriting as Aldean shared he had a lot he wanted to say through his music. “[I] kind of had some ideas of things I wanted to say, or write about,” he expressed. “It’s been a while since I really focused on writing songs for an album so, to do that, and end up with a few songs on this album that I wrote – to me, is probably the thing I’m most excited about.”
The product is Highway Desperado, an album Jason is calling “lyrically one of the best albums we’ve ever done,” from top to bottom. “This album has kind of taken us on a different little path and I like to say it feels familiar but it sounds different.”
