“‘Lifetimes’ is a song about eternal love,” Perry shared in a statement about the Dr. Luke-produced track. “It’s about finding that one deep and satisfying love of your life. A soulmate doesn’t always have to come in the form of a partner—it can come in all different ways, a child, a best friend, a pet. For me, it is my daughter—I ask her every night, ‘Will you find me in every lifetime?’ She says, ‘Yes,’ and I feel found. You’ll find each other, over and over again, for lifetimes.”
“LIFETIMES” arrived with a music video. Directed by STILLZ, the visual sees KP arriving in Ibiza, Spain, for an ultimate vacay. While chillin on a ferry in a pink crop top, Katy begins the bop's repetitively catchy first verse, “I’ll love you for / I’ll love you for life / Lifetimes / I’ll love you for / I’ll love you for life / Lifetimes.”
With her feet on dry land, Katy, now bikini clad, makes her way to the side of the road, where she cheekily reveals the 11-song 143 track list via a billboard. On it written in Katy’s new girly-pop futuristic era aesthetic font is the track’s title “Lifetimes” as well as the project’s lead single, “Woman’s World.” Other song titles include “Crush,” “Nirvana,” “All the Love,” “Truth” and “Wonder.” As well as s few collabs including “Gorgeous” featuring Kim Petras, “Gimme Gimme” with 21 Savage, “I’m His He’s Mine” featuring Doechii, and “Artificial” with JID.
Frolicking on the white sandy beaches in an animal print barely there bikini, to kayaking with friends and enjoying a boat ride at sunset, Katy sings, “I know you feel it / Can you believe it? / I’m gonna love you ’til the end and then repeat it / For life / For life,” on the dance floor-ready chorus.
As day turns to night, Perry continues making “LIFETIMES” of memories, from exploring the city, behind the DJ booth, on the back of a motorcycle, and on the very hungover bus ride home.
143, which as Katy revealed is code for “I love you,” is set to arrive on September 20. Check out the “LIFETIMES” video below.
