In celebration of the release of their brand new studio album, Metallica is giving fans a look behind the curtain, with all of the members sharing their own personal excitement about each of the tracks.

Metallica has officially arrived with their highly-anticipated 2023 album, 72 Seasons, featuring 12 all-new songs over 77 minutes. Before you dive into the new release, James Hetfield, Robert Trujillo, Kirk Hammett, and Lars Ulrich, have shared a video giving us a track-by-track breakdown of all of the songs on the record.
Starting with the opening track, "72 Seasons," bassist Rob grins as he describes the intro as a "fast, in-your-face fusion of Thrash! [his emphasis] -- with Kirk's name written all over it." Next up is Lars discussing the "stomper" second track, "Shadows Fall," followed by James' "old school, new wave of British metal" description of their previously released single "Screaming Suicide." The guys continue on with their breakdowns, outlining the record's dynamic shifts, powerful messaging, and dual harmonies reminiscent of their beloved Master of Puppets instrumental "Orion," Kirk admits.
"I'm really excited to play all these songs live," Hammett adds, "because whenever we can get new material into the setlist it's always super exciting, and it's great to see how these songs are received live. I'm looking forward to seeing how successful these songs are."
