Paramore has offered up a brand new music video, directed by Mike Kluge and Matthew DeLisi and shot in their hometown of Nashville, for their latest single, "The News," from the group's upcoming album, This Is Why, scheduled for release on February 10, 2023.
"The News," singer Hayley Williams explains in a press release, is "one of those songs that came together pretty quickly and felt exciting from the start," and, “feels like a happy medium between classic Paramore angst and bringing in some influences we’ve always had but never exploited"
“Lyrically, it probably explains itself," Williams adds of the new song, which follows the first single, the record's title track. "The 24-hr news cycle is just impossible to comprehend. And I feel a pang of guilt when I unplug to protect my headspace. The common reaction, or non-reaction, seems to be dissociation. Not one of us is innocent of that and who could blame us?”
Paramore is set to hit the road in the new year as well, with North American dates planned for 26 cities beginning in May featuring support from Bloc Party, Foals, The Linda Lindas, and Genesis Owusu.
