Tim McGraw may have mega Country star status, but the singer remains 'Humble & Kind' as the things he treasures most are those that remind him of time spent with his family -- like the Mercedes passed down by his later father, Tug McGraw.
LISTEN NOW: Tim McGraw shares his daughters learned to drive in a Mercedes bought with Tug McGraw's World Series check
Made clear by his recent #1 song, “7500 OBO,” a lot of memories for Tim are tied to automobiles and there are two in the family he says he’ll never get rid of.
“My Dad has this little Mercedes 280SL that he bought when they won the ’69 World Series — he bought it with his World Series check,” Tim said of his late father Tug McGraw who pitched for the New York Mets. “He passed that on to me, so all my daughters learned to drive in that, so that’s pretty special.”
Another vehicle that will remain forever a part of the McGraw fleet is a Cadillac Escalade. While McGraw says it was too big to have much involvement in his daughters learning how to drive, it holds a large amount of family memories.
“I have a Cadillac Escalade that we’ve had for I don’t know, 17 years or so, that our kids sorta grew up in,” he shared. “I’ve got so many memories of haulin’ a bunch of cheerleaders to football games and basketball practices and softball practices and taking cross-country trips and I remember stripping out all the seats and loading all my daughter’s stuff in it and driving her cross-country to LA. All those memories — that’s something that I’ll never sell.”
Hear Tim share more about the memories of these vehicles, family and music above as he chats with Audacy’s Rob + Holly.
