Kellogg announced on Thursday that they would be bringing back their famous Cereal Straws after 12 years off of store shelves and a customer petition urging the company to bring them back.
"Kellogg is answering superfans' petition and social media pleas to bring back its iconic Kellogg's Cereal Straws," Kellogg said in a release according to USA Today.
The snack will be offered in two iconic flavors. "After a 12-year hiatus, the nostalgia- inducing Kellogg's Cereal Straws are revived in two flavors: Kellogg's Froot Loops and Kellogg's Cocoa Krispies," the statement continued.
The move to bring back Cereal Straws comes after a Change.org petition caught the attention of the cereal and snack company. User Hannah Wade created the petition, making a case for the Froot Loops variety of Cereal Straws in particular.
"Froot Loops Cereal Straws were discontinued in 2009," Wade wrote in the petition's description. "People around the world seem to be nostalgic for this delicious treat from our childhood. Bringing back Fruit Loops Cereal Straws would bring joy to my generation and generations to come."
By Saturday afternoon, the petition had garnered more than 81,000 signatures.
Kellogg's Cereal Straws will be available beginning in October.
This isn't the first time Kellogg's has taken a stab at nostalgia in their offerings. In February, the company debuted Cosmic Brownies cereal featuring bite-sized Cosmic Brownies and sprinkles.
Each cereal square is like a miniature Cosmic Brownie, and though it’s not as soft and comes without frosting, it’s just as fudgey as you remember.
You’ll be able to indulge your sweet-tooth this spring as the brownie-themed breakfast will be available on shelves beginning in May.
