The NFL trade deadline is on Tuesday and you can expect Jerry Jones and the Dallas Cowboys to be busy leading up to it.
The Cowboys owner told Kevin Gray of 105.3 The Fan after Sunday’s 49-29 win over the Chicago Bears that he is ready to go all in to set the team up for a Super Bowl run.
“If I have a chance to do something that would be interpreted but real meat on the bone of going for it, then I would do that,” he said. “I feel that good about our chances here. I would do that. Yeah, and I’d give up some future currency to go for it.”
The win over the Bears improved the Cowboys to 6-2 on the season, third in the NFC East (pending the outcome of the Giants game) and two games behind the Philadelphia Eagles for the division lead.
Dak Prescott also looked sharper in his second week back from injury and Micah Parsons continues to be one of, if not, the biggest difference-maker in the league on defense.
Jones has not been shy about spending future capital in an attempt to go all in before.
In 2018, the Cowboys gave up a first-round pick to acquire wide receiver Amari Cooper from the Las Vegas Raiders.
It’s possible the Cowboys go for another wide receiver this year. Brandin Cooks, Chase Claypool and D.J. Moore are among the potential wide receiver targets. Odell Beckham Jr. is also a free agent.
On the other end of the ball, Broncos pass rusher Bradley Chubb has also been linked to the Cowboys in trade rumors.
One thing we can expect: Jerry is going to do something.
