Ray Knight will no longer be part of MASN's Nationals broadcasts after the network did not pick up his 2019 contract option, according to Chelsea Janes of The Washington Post

Knight has been a part of MASN's pre- and postgame coverage since 2007, but the network pulled him off-air in mid-September without providing an explanation.

But according to Janes, Knight allegedly had "a verbal altercation" with another MASN employee that included "an expletive-laden tirade" from the 65-year old broadcaster.

This would not be the first time Knight was involved in such an incident. He was arrested for assault and battery in Oct. 2017 after reportedly getting in a fight with a 33-year old man. The charges were later dropped.
Several fans voiced their displeasure with Knight not returning on Twitter.

Ray Knight was the best thing about MASN. This is a BIG MISTAKE.

This is a loss to Nats fans. MASN decision but it robs fans of the game Ray's honest assessments, knowledge of the game, and his expectation for excellence. I will miss that and his smiles after a win.

It has not yet been announced who will take Knight's place next to Johnny Holliday on Nats Xtra.
