NFL Free Agency 2020: Tracking all Redskins moves

The NFL calendar year has begun and business is at-hand. We will be tracking all of the Redskins moves during free agency:

Signings:
The Redskins are signing cornerback Ronald Darby, Per ESPN's Jeremy Fowler. Darby will assumedly compete with Fabian Moreau at cornerback for the starting spot opposite Kendall Fuller.
The Redskins are planning to sign wide receiver Cody Latimer to a contract, per NFL Network's Mike Garafolo. Latimer stays in the NFC East after spending two seasons with the Giants.
The Redskins have agreed to terms with tight end Richard Rodgers, per NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. Rodgers, 28, has struggled to stay healthy over the past few years, but his addition bolsters the Redskins need at tight end.
The Redskins are signing running back Peyton Barber, per ESPN's Jeremy Fowler. The 26-year-old back racked up 585 total yards from scrimmage and seven touchdowns (6 rushing, 1 receiving) for the Buccaneers in 2019. He touched the ball 170 times through the ground and air.

The Redskins agreed to a two-year deal with offensive tackle Cornelius Lucas on Thursday, with the deal valued at $5.3 million, per NFL Media's Ian Rapoport. Lucas is a mammoth of a human, standing at 6 feet, 8 inches tall and weighing in at 327 pounds. Undrafted in 2014, Lucas has played for four teams in six NFL seasons, most recenly with the Bears in 2019.

Cornelius Lucas held his own nicely last year when the Bears needed it. Went from a guy I didn't expect to make the 53-man roster out of camp to a solid depth piece and nice contract here. https://t.co/OjzFKFxeRm

The Redskins are slated to sign tight end Logan Thomas, John Keim reports. Previously with Detroit, Thomas was a quarterback in college at Virginia Tech who converted to tight end at the NFL level three years into his professional career.

The Redskins added depth running back J.D. McKissic via a two-year deal, reports Tom Pelissero of NFL Network. McKissic, 26, is a versatile back with hands who caught 34 passes for 233 yards and one touchdowns for the Lions in 2019, while rushing for an additional 205 yards on 38 touches. He played in 16 games, starting three.

He had 479 total yards and three touchdowns in three seasons prior with the Seahawks.

The Redskins have re-signed defensive end, Nate Orchard, to a one-year deal. The Redskins brought Orchard on late last season and he was a reliable contributor during his limited playing time.

The Redskins are signing former Steelers free safety Sean Davis. The former Terp was a second-round pick in 2016 and is coming off a year in which he missed all but one game. Davis is signing a one-year deal worth up to $5 million, according to Adam Schefter.

Ron Rivera is adding a veteran presence in the Redskins locker room, reuniting with linebacker Thomas Davis, who played eight seasons for him in Carolina. Davis, who turns 37 on Sunday, is still productive despite his age, racking up 112 combined tackles for the Chargers in 2019.

Linebacker was a clear position of need for the Redskins entering free agency. They addressed that Tuesday with the addition of Kevin Pierre-Louis, formerly of the Bears.

The #Redskins are signing former #Bears LB Kevin Pierre-Louis, per @SPORTSTARSNYC. An underrated player who was a favorite of defensive coordinators.

CHI, it was a blessing to experience the passion and history. Thank you! #HTTR’s I’m ready to work and earn your respect ✊--

The Redskins made a tough decision in giving away Kendall Fuller in the Jan. 2018 trade that brought Alex Smith to Washington. Now, after watching him win the Super Bowl with the Kansas City Chiefs, the Redskins are bringing the 25-year-old corner back home on a four-year deal (more details).

The Redskins liked what they saw in linebacker Jon Bostic in 2019, even so that they're bringing him back for another two seasons (more details).
After losing Ereck Flowers to free agency, Washington needed to add depth along their offensive line. Enter former Falcons guard Wes Schweitzer, who's agreed to a three-year deal with the Redskins valued at $13.5 million.

#Redskins are signing former #Falcons G Wes Schweitzer, source says. He gets $13.5 million over three years.

After failing to come to an agreement before free agency, the Redskins rightly realized they couldn't live without guard Brandon Scherff. By using the non-exclusive franchise tag, they're betting they can reach a long-term deal by July 15, or allow another team to make an offer with the chance to match or receive compensation in return.

Departures:
LG Ereck Flowers: After giving him an opportunity to revitalize his career in 2019, Washington wanted to bring Flowers back in 2020. After making an aggressive offer, they ultimately lost out to the Dolphins, who agreed to pay Flowers $30 million over the next three years ($19.95M fully guaranteed). Why they may be better off without him.

Redskins made a legit offer to keep Ereck Flowers. Offered up to $8 million per season. Wouldn’t go to $10M though

Rumors & Rumblings:

The Redskins are among three teams interested in 35-year-old tight end Delanie Walker, who's spent the past seven seasons in Tennessee. The Colts and Packers also have interest. Source: ESPN Redskins reporter John Keim.

Keep in mind, expressing interest could just mean: wait/see what else develops. sure there are others on their list, too. This is just 1 that i know they have talked to. Would imagine they wouldn't feel "problem solved." wouldn't have felt that way if Olsen had come here.

The Panthers made a surprise move in releasing safety Eric Reid. With Washington's need for a free safety to play opposite of Landon Collins, don't be surprised if Ron Rivera calls up another one of his former players.

Slight surprise in Charlotte: The Panthers will be releasing safety Eric Reid, source says. Team saw him as a great culture fit, ownership/management really liked him, all seemed well. But team decided to instead go a different way at safety in free agency.

— Jeff Darlington (@JeffDarlington) March 18, 2020

The Redskins shoved all their chips in on free agent wide receiver Amari Cooper, who, according to ESPN's Ed Werder, turned down a better contract with Washington to return to Dallas (more details).

Trades:

All reported deals can't become official until the start of the new league year on Wednesday, March 18 at 4 p.m. EST.
