The Redskins have been active in trade talks leading up to Thursday's 2020 NFL Draft and could make a splash sooner than later.

The team has two assets available that opposing teams want to get their hands on: 7-time Pro Bowl left tackle Trent Williams, and the No. 2 overall pick.

According to multiple reports from ESPN's Josina Anderson, they have been fielding offers for both.

Source: The Washington #Redskins are still fielding inquiries of potential interest as of this morning, but one team in particular has already laid out a 'complete deal' for their #No. 2 pick.

Source: Regarding LT Trent Williams: There's "an opportunity to have something done shortly." I'm told there's been "some really good constructive conversations" and there is "hope to get it done soon." My understanding is, it's a positive situation & the process is ongoing.

The Redskins are smart to do their due diligence and see what they could potentially get for Williams, 31, who has made it abundantly clear he is ready to move on. The previous offers of a first round pick for Williams are long gone, and the team is hoping to recoup as much as possible before moving the disgruntled left tackle.

NFL Network's Mike Garafolo reported the Redskins have "closed the window" for Williams and his agent Vince Taylor to work out a trade. The Redskins hold all the cards moving forward.

A big piece of a potential Trent Williams trade. The #Redskins have it in their hands now, extension or not. https://t.co/q8yTUza4qg

In terms of moving the second overall pick, while the team will surely field multiple offers for the selection, unless they receive an offer they cannot refuse, most expect the Burgundy & Gold to select Ohio State edge rusher Chase Young, constantly regarded as a "generational talent."

The virtual draft presents a unique set of challenges, making it unlikely for teams to consummate a trade on draft day without holding prior discussions. To that end, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported Tuesday that teams had already begun reaching out to Washington, "laying groundwork" for a potential deal to acquire the second overall pick.
Bringing Young into the fold could make the Redskins defensive line a nightmare for opposing offenses for years to come. If they receive a package of picks, the team could improve multiple areas of the roster rather than just one.

Meanwhile, separately, I'm told that an NFL GM from a team within the top 7 has been calling multiple times trying to get Chase Young on the phone for a 1-on-1 entering this week, per source. Source did not want to indicate whether the call took place since.

The rumors will only continue to swirl from here, and the Redskins are open for business.
