The Astros activated Jeremy Peña off the 10-day injured list before Sunday's series finale at Yankee Stadium.

Peña returns after missing the last 10 games with left thumb discomfort which forced him to leave during the Astros game on June 13 in Arlington. The 24-year old rookie is batting .277 with nine home runs and 27 RBI.

To make room for Peña on the 26-man roster, the Astros optioned Chas McCormick to Triple-A Sugar Land just two days after sending Jose Siri back to Triple-A. McCormick is batting .219 with six home runs and 16 RBI. He started the season batting .290, but that number has fallen to .172 over his last 32 games.

The move solidifies Jake Meyers' spot as the team's top centerfielder after he returned from the 60-day IL on Friday night. Mauricio Dubón has started seven games in center since his acquisition from the San Francisco Giants last month and started Sunday's game in left field. It also keeps left-handed hitting first baseman J.J. Matijevic on the Major League roster after he hit home runs off Michael Kopech and Gerrit Cole in successive starts.
