(SportsRadio 610) -- Astros catcher Martin Maldonado left Tuesday's game against the Yankees after a nasty home plate collision with second baseman Rougned Odor in the sixth inning.
It happened with Odor running home on a throwing error to first base by Alex Bregman. There was still a bat around the batter's box as Odor arrived at the plate, seemingly preventing him from sliding and running into Maldonado, who suffered a bruised trapezius muscle but tested negative for a concussion.
Odor also suffered a left knee injury as he attempted to touch home plate. Both players were down for some time, but walked off the field on their own.
Maldonado was replaced by Jason Castro, but the damage was already done. The Yankees put up four runs to take a 7-3 lead into the seventh inning and won the game by the same score.
This was the first of the Astros' three-game series at Yankee Stadium.
