Astros slugger Yordan Alvarez is back, batting cleanup in home-opener

(SportsRadio 610) - Astros slugger Yordan Alvarez is off the injured list after dealing with an illness last week and batting cleanup in the team's home opener against the Los Angeles Angels.

The Astros hope Alvarez can break out of the slump he was in before going on the IL. Alvarez hit his first career Opening Day home run against the Angels, but has not done much since. He's 2-for-14 (.143) and 0 for his last 8.

Last year, Alvarez played his first full season for the Astros and led the club in home runs (33) and RBI (104). He ranked eighth in the AL in RBI, ninth in OPS (.877) and 10th in slugging percentage (.531).

Luis Garcia will start for the Astros in their home-opener at Minute Maid Park. Michael Lorenzen takes the mound for the Angels.
