(SportsRadio 610) - Given the Texans are coming off back-to-back losing seasons, their leadership has been questioned over the past few years, and they have made head-scratching personnel moves, it's reasonable to question whether free agents find this to be a desirable destination.
Texans general manager Nick Caserio had no trouble signing veteran free agents last offseason, but most of them were on one- to two-year deals at market value.
Caserio last year also hired David Culley, who had never even been considered as a potential NFL head coach, then fired him after one season.
With veteran head coach Lovie Smith now leading the team, it at least adds some credibility to the position. The Texans also have their full slate of draft picks this year for the first time since 2019.
In this podcast, Seth Payne and Sean Pendergast break down some of what Smith said about why free agents would want to sign in Houston.
