(SportsRadio 610) - Texans quarterback Tyrod Taylor will start Sunday when they visit the Miami Dolphins, head coach David Culley announced Thursday morning.
Taylor is returning from a hamstring injury, which kept him out of action for the past six weeks. Rookie Davis Mills has started in his place, but the Texans (1-7) have struggled to score in Taylor's absence.
Houston has the least efficient offense in the league, according to Football Outsiders.
While coaches and players alike have been supportive of Mills, they admit getting Taylor back could provide a boost for the team.
"He looks great," Texans wide receiver Brandin Cooks told reporters Thursday "It was great to have him back. Just his presence. We look forward to it."
There have been no setbacks with Taylor's hamstring, Culley said. Taylor was activated from the injured reserve last week ahead of the Rams game, but the team did not believe he was ready yet.
"Being back on the field doing something that I love to do, something that I’ve been doing since I was 5 years old, obviously that’s a wonderful feeling," Taylor said. "Just to be able to compete and be back around the guys, stepping back into the huddle last week and even more this week has just been a feeling that you can’t necessarily describe. But I’m happy to be back."
