(SportsRadio 610) - The Texans added another veteran cornerback and recent starter by signing Fabian Moreau.
It was a move reported earlier Tuesday and later announced by the team. Moreau, a third-round pick in the 2017 NFL Draft by Washington, started all 16 games for the Atlanta Falcons last season. He spent the previous four seasons with Washington before signing a one-year deal with Atlanta last season.
Moreau joins a cornerback group which includes Steven Nelson, another veteran starter signed in free agency, Kendall Sheffield, another former Falcons corner and Houston-area native, and Derek Stingley Jr. -- the Texans' No. 3 overall pick.
Desmond King II and Tavierre Thomas, who are primarily nickel corners, also return from last season's team.
Texans head coach Lovie Smith has been candid about the team's need to upgrade at corner this offseason, as evidenced by their acquisitions and departures. Houston elected not to pursue last year's starter Terrence Mitchell in free agency and traded former second-round pick Lonnie Johnson Jr. to the Kansas City Chiefs.
