The Houston Texans are bringing back their best run stopper by re-signing defensive tackle Foley Fatukasi.
Details of the new deal were not initially reported, but it does fortify the Texans' defensive line. They already re-signed defensive tackle Mario Edwards and brought back Sheldon Rankins, who was with Houston in 2023 and spent last season with the Cincinnati Bengals.
Their star edge rushers are third-year defensive end Will Anderson Jr. and Danielle Hunter, a multi All-Pro who they signed to a one-year contract extension this offseason.
Fatukasi, a massive 6-4, 318-pound interior defensive lineman, was a noticeable difference maker of the Texans' front in 2024.
The Houston Chronicle's Jonathan Alexander pointed out these numbers:
In the games Fatukasi did not play, opposing teams averaged 125.5 rushing yards per game against the Texans. In the games he did play, opposing teams rushed for 107.7 rushing yards per game against them.
