The Texans replaced their leader in sacks from last season with another double-digit sack guy in defensive end Denico Autry.
Houston is signing the former Indianapolis Colts and Tennessee Titans pass rusher to a two-year, $20 million deal, KPRC2's Aaron Wilson reported Monday.
The signing addresses the loss of Jonathan Greenard, the Texans' leader in sacks last season who is signing with the Minnesota Vikings in free agency. Greenard, 26, had 12.5 sacks for Houston last season.
Autry, 33, had 11.5 sacks for the Titans last season. It was the first double-digit sack season of his 10-year career. In the previous two seasons with Tennessee, Autry combined for 17 sacks. He was also a force in the three previous seasons with the Colts, recording nine sacks in 2018 and 7.5 sacks in 2020.
The Texans are also signing linebacker Azeez Al-Shaair to a three-year deal worth $34 million. Al-Shaair also played for the Titans last year, but spent his first four NFL seasons with the San Francisco 49ers and DeMeco Ryans.
