The experts say at the end of the day it has a lot to do with portion sizes. Portion control not only helps with calorie consumption, but it makes you more aware of the nutritional value of what you are wanting to eat. Researchers also say that we balance our favorite traditional holiday foods with healthier food throughout the day, that we should keep up with exercise and that we should say no to fad diets. If you want savory and delicious meals this holiday season try roasted or sauteed vegetables for sides. If you are looking to fill that sweet tooth go for a light yogurt parfait, baked apples or pears, fruit tray and even this classic: pecan pie.

Portion control or dieting may feel intimidating especially over the holiday season, but even making a simple change like using almond flour, or gluten free flour can help change your diet significantly. There's no need to give up the things you love in life when you can make subtle changes daily to make a large impact in your life.
