AUSTIN (Talk1370.com) -- Governor Greg Abbott announced Thursday he's deploying the Texas Department of Public Safety and Texas National Guard personnel and tactical resources to Austin in anticipation of this weekend's planned "No Kings" protests.

"Violence and destruction will never be tolerated in Texas," Abbott said in a press release. He directed the agencies to send all necessary law enforcement officials and resources to "ensure the safety of Austin residents."

"Texas will deter criminal mischief and work with local law enforcement to arrest anyone engaging in acts of violence or damaging property," Abbott said.

Several "No Kings" protests are scheduled for Saturday across Central Texas, including an Austin event which is slated to begin at the state capitol.

The forces - which include DPS state troopers, Special Agents, and Texas Rangers, along with National Guard soldiers—will be on the ground. They'll be supported by aircraft and other tactical assets, with the goal of deterring "criminal mischief" and arresting anyone involved in violence or property damage. The DPS Homeland Security Division is actively monitoring the situation.

Abbott and DPS officials confirmed that all individuals engaging in unlawful activity will face charges.
