AUSTIN (Talk1370.com) -- Austin Police have identified the officer who was fatally shot during a SWAT callout in southwest Austin early Saturday morning.
APD interim chief Robin Henderson, in a post on X, identified the fallen officer as Jorge Pastore.
"My heart is heavy today," Henderson wrote on X. "Please help me and our APD family pay tribute to SPO Jorge Pastore for his brave & heroic actions. Sir, we’ll take it from here."
Pastore began his career with APD in the 141st Cadet Class on June 24, 2019, and was commissioned as an officer on January 31, 2020.
He is survived by his wife, two stepsons, parents, and two sisters.
APD officials say memorial service details are pending.
Pastore was one of two APD officers shot during Saturday morning's standoff. The other officer, who has not been identified, was said to be in stable condition after undergoing surgery Saturday morning.
In addition to Pastore, the suspect and two other victims were pronounced deceased at the scene.
