Officials said the call came in just after 2 p.m. Thursday, near Gate 24 at the airport. An employee was reportedly involved in a crash between a ground service vehicle and one of the jet bridges.
Austin-Travis County EMS said the victim died at the scene after suffering "traumatic injuries."
AUS officials responded with a statement following the incident. "This afternoon AUS was notified that Austin-Travis County EMS responded to an injured airline employee. The incident occurred outside of the terminal where aircraft park at their gates. ATCEMS pronounced the employee deceased."
"There are no significant impacts to airport operations at this time," the statement continued. "AUS staff are working closely with the airline and emergency services personnel. Our thoughts are with this employee and all those impacted by today’s tragic event."
