AUSTIN (Talk1370.com) -- The Travis County Fire Marshal's office has released its findings on a Northwest Austin house explosion earlier this week that completely destroyed a two-story home and damaged more than two dozen others.
That explosion happened at 11:23 a.m. on April 13 in the 10400 block of Double Spur Loop. Austin Fire officials said crews had noted damage to as many as 24 homes nearby; Round Rock ISD officials also reported damage to nearby Laurel Mountain Elementary School.
“There are no suspicious or criminal circumstances surrounding this incident," the fire marshal said.
A total of six people were injured during the incident, including two at the site of the explosion. Two firefighters sustained injuries as well.
Officials had previously confirmed the property did not have natural gas service, but the home did have a propane tank.
“While this investigation is entering its final stages, it is important to remember that there is still a long road of recovery ahead for those who were affected by this tragic event. There are still two people in critical condition at area hospitals. When they are able, we will interview them, take their statements, and include them in the final report,” said the fire marshal’s office in a statement.
