D.J. Swearinger was a weekly guest on Grant & Danny back in the 2018 season, a partnership that ended a little early when Swearinger’s tenure ended early - but he was back with the boys Thursday, just days after signing with the XFL's D.C. Defenders, an had this to say about the Commanders name change and pending sale of the franchise:

“The name is definitely something different, but it seems like everyone’s adjusted to that,” Swearinger said of the name, before adding of Snyder: “It is wild to me that he’s selling the team. We communicated a lot after 2017, he would text me about certain players, evaluating guys on other teams about how they played and if they might fit in on our system. I stayed out of talking about anyone on our team, but I went to his home and sat down with him a couple times, so we had a little bit of a relationship.”

That surprised Grant, who called Snyder like “The Wizard of Oz” to many, but apparently, the two weren’t THAT close, as Swearinger never got on the Snyder yacht?

“I never went on the yacht but I definitely went to the big mansion, and we talked about Sean Taylor a lot. Sean was his guy,” Swearinger said. “I never angled for that, and I wish I had, because I’m into boating now myself. I have a boat in Miami that I rent out almost every weekend, so I should’ve tried to get on that yacht and get some insight on that!”

The guys couldn’t get Swearinger to say over the air that Snyder should definitely sell the team, trying to frame it as “what would you say if he asked,” but the fact that D.J. has been in the mansion is still quite the shock!
