Former NFL GM Michael Lombardi went on his GM Shuffle podcast and declared that the Commanders should undergo a complete overhaul once new ownership takes over, and that any remnant of the Dan Snyder era, save for honoring franchise legends like Sean Taylor, should be washed away.
Lombardi said even the Commanders name should be “up for grabs.”
Reacting to that declaration on Tuesday, Grant and Danny didn’t think it was the worst idea.
“To me, it’s the best way to win people back,” Danny said.
“If you were hired by Dan Snyder, you’re now fired by Josh Harris.
If Dan picked the carpet, you change the carpet…anything this dude touched turned to poison, we’re doing the opposite. Quite literally. It’s the biggest layup of all time to make people happy.”
Grant agrees that it would be the best course of action, but doesn’t believe the Josh Harris ownership group should just come in and wipe the place clean without reservation.
“I know that it would be taken very well by the fans if that was the decision,” Grant said. “But there are a lot of good people in that building that do a really good job, and you have to find out who they are.”
