With the sale of the Commanders seemingly imminent given Thursday’s news that Dan Snyder has agreed to sell the team to the ownership group led by Josh Harris, there is a sense of “relief” within the organization, according to head coach Ron Rivera.

“It really seemed like a load was lifted, because everybody was on pins and needles for the last couple of months,” Rivera told USA Today. “You kind of wondered what was going to happen.”

Now that Rivera and the team know what will be happening, with Harris and company taking over for the price of $6.05 billion, the head coach anticipates the Commanders getting back to business.

“We got right back to the draft meetings,” Rivera said. “We’ll still be business as usual.”

While it is a “relief” for Rivera now, the change in ownership could lead the new minds in charge to clean house and start anew, meaning the upcoming season could be Rivera’s last in Washington if there isn’t clear improvement from last year’s mediocre finish. So while there is a weight lifted now, Rivera could be feeling the pressure in the near future.
