Cakes on Bradley Beal trade: 'Phoenix could've given us 50 basketballs and a box of hoodies, and that'd be enough'

It was hard to imagine the Wizards would get much back for Bradley Beal, as even WaPo’s Ava Wallace asked the Junkies Monday ‘what was the price of freedom from that contract?’

However, as it stands, what they got was no first-round picks and no true expiring contract – instead getting at least one year of Landry Shamet, second-round picks and some sort of pick swap to be finalized, and CP3, who they can try to move or simply buy out.

Given that…did the Wizards’ new front office get fleeced in this deal? It’s a real possibility that the Junks discussed Monday morning – but here was Cakes’ take:

“Bradley Beal was a very good player making elite player money, and it was hurting the franchise,” he said. “Phoenix could’ve given us 50 basketballs and a box of Suns hoodies, and that would’ve been enough – and Michael Winger deserves executive of the year consideration already for it!”
