
A big play on Special Teams and stout defense in the 2nd half lift South Carolina to a season opening win. The Gamecocks outscored Virginia Tech 14-3 in the 2nd half to win 24-11, Sunday in Atlanta.
South Carolina struck 1st scoring on a LaNorris Sellers TD run to go up 7-0. The offense struggled the rest of the 1st half managing just a Field Goal and the Gamecocks led 10-8 at the break.
An 80 yard punt return touchdown by Vicari Swain sparked South Carolina and made it 17-8. Virginia Tech answered with a Field Goal to make it 17-11. The Gamecocks then scored on a 64 yard TD pass from Sellers to Nyck Harbor.
South Carolina's defense then got an interception from Peyton Williams and the offense salted the clock away to win 24-11. The Gamecocks are 1-0 they'll host South Carolina State, Saturday night.
