A new code of conduct for student athletes has been issued in Greenwood School District 50. The new standards will go into effect immediately and are expected to raise the standards for student athletes.
District officials say the new code of conduct is intended to provide consistent enforcement of guidelines across all schools and programs in the district. The policy addresses guidelines for theft, vandalism, harassment, hazing and other bad behaviors.
The rules will apply to student athletes year round, including holiday and summer breaks. The guidelines also address substance abuse and criminal activity.
A 1st offense of the substance abuse policy will result in suspension, and a 2nd offense will mean dismissal from athletics for the rest of the school year. Criminal infractions will be an immediate suspension and could result in dismissal depending on severity.
