JUNKIES: EB has a big problem with Mike Clay's NFL QB room rankings

You heard what the Junkies had to say about Mike Clay’s rankings putting the Commanders’ WRs 11th in the NFL on the Junkies Tuesday.

Well, on Wednesday morning, the Junkies gave their take on that QB ranking, and, as you might expect, someone had a big problem with it – and his name is Eric Bickel.

“Before I looked at the list, I looked at Jason and said it started with a three,” Cakes said, and when EB chimed in that he thought it would be “25 and below,” he never expected 32.

“Dead last is wrong. It’s beyond wrong,” EB said. “There’s no chance. Brissett alone carries the group above Atlanta, and he alone has accomplished more than Green Bay’s guys. It’s a bad list. The list yesterday that didn’t bother me? This one bothers me.”

“Brissett alone might be better than Baker Mayfield straight up, and they have Mayfield and Tampa right ahead of him,” Bish replied.

JP doesn’t agree with that assessment of the Bucs, even as EB doubled down.

“If you want to give Sam Howell zero credit, that’s fine. I won’t argue his credentials when he’s done nothing in the league,” EB said. “But Brissett alone elevates the group, and is better than Desmond Ridder, Taylor Heinicke, and Logan Woodside. I’d say maybe 28 or 29 until proven otherwise, but 32?”

“They’re looking at upside, and Mike Clay clearly thinks the upside of the rookies is better than Sam Howell,” Bish shot back.

JP believes they may have been leaning heavily on QB1, Bish and Cakes agreed – with Cakes wondering why the third-stringers were even considered, and Bish saying he’d put Tampa dead last, not Washington – and the producers chimed in by saying “if they were evaluating the whole group, the Eagles (Hurts, Mariota, Book) should be higher.”

And EB is STILL adamant that Brissett alone makes the Commanders’ group better than 32.

“To me it says NFL quarterback UNIT ranks, so I think this guy is so dim-witted, he doesn’t even understand his own list,” EB said. “If you want to do starter rankings and have Howell 32nd, okay, fine, he hasn’t done anything yet. But if you’re calling this a list of the quarterback units, then I have a problem.”

“I think you’re overvaluing Jacoby Brissett,” Cakes shot back. “He’s a decent backup, but he’s a backup.”

“The reason EB is fixated on Atlanta is not because of Ridder, it’s because Heinicke is in that list,” JP laughed, even as Bish said Heinicke is “one of the better backups in the league.”

“They have Buffalo at No. 2, and I’d rather have Heinicke than Matt Barkley as a backup,” Bish said. “But Josh Allen is so good, and they’re ranking the No. 1s at the top of the list.”
