Former Washington cornerback Will Blackmon joined BMitch and Finlay on Friday to talk about fellow corner Emmanuel Forbes becoming the newest member of the Commanders, and it’s safe to say Blackmon is a fan of the team’s first-round pick.

“This is actually a pretty cool pick,” Blackmon said. “This dude, he’s a legit, all-around athlete. That’s one thing that stands out.

“His frame and everything kind of reminds me of Al Harris. Just long, lean, and very strong, and I just love his energy and his attitude. I know people look at him like he’s respectfully 170, but when you get good eating and get paid, you’ll put that muscle on. He’ll be fine. I like this pick for Washington.”

Forbes replicating the career of Harris would have to be seen as a success, as Harris enjoyed two Pro Bowl seasons in what was a 14-year NFL career, which began with Harris playing all 16 games in each of his first 10 seasons. Blackmon understands the size concerns, but based on his own experience coming into the league, he says Forbes will be just fine.

“At the end of the day, you’re gonna gain weight,” Blackmon said. “I came into the league, I was about 190, which is a good size for a corner, but ended up playing corner at like 208, 205…I wouldn’t be so overly concerned because of what he was able to do at that weight. He’s a baller.”
