Recently Juandolyn Stokes and Artist Steve Allen shares he is seeking equity in art for Black Art. Allen says Black Art is integral part of Black Culture. He tells Stokes that as a child he began drawing portraits.
Allen shares that there is lack of representation in the art business for Black Art. He goes on to say Most people don't know your art collection can be used as collateral to finance. Allen shares that initially he did not know the value of his own work. His word of advice to artists is: it is important to get your artwork appraised and insured
