CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- As undocumented immigrants worried about deportation raids Sunday, Mayor Lori Lightfoot and other Democratic politicians walked through one of Chicago's largest immigrant neighborhoods.

The walk began after mass at St Agnes Catholic Church in Little Village, in which the priest spoke of loving your neighbor.

The mayor; Chicago Congressman Chuy Garcia; Sen. Dick Durbin and other members of the Illinois congressional delegation shook hands with people, talked and took pictures as they walked past stores and people selling items on the sidewalk.

Garcia said the walk was to renew a commitment to the undocumented and to repudiate the raids.

Lightfoot reiterated her pledge not to give the U.S. Department of Immigration and Customs Enforcement any help in what she called "heartless work.”

President Trump has said the raids will target criminals and people who have already been ordered by immigration judges to be deported.

The mayor said her office was investigating unconfirmed reports of ICE raids in Gage Park.
