CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- There's more information being released about the 17-year-old teen from Antioch, who is accused of shooting and killing two men and wounding a third during violent street protests on Tuesday night.

Kyle Rittenhouse, the Illinois teen who was arrested Wednesday on suspicion of first-degree intentional homicide in the attack Tuesday night that killed two people and wounded a third that was largely captured on cellphone video, appears to have idolized police.

He was standing outside a gas station Tuesday night armed with a semi-automatic weapon and told a reporter with the Daily Caller his presence there was his "job."

"People are getting injured, and our job is to protect this business. And part of my job also is to protect people. If someone is hurt, I’m running into harm’s way. That’s why I have my rifle; I’ve gotta protect myself obviously. But I also have my med kit," Rittenhouse said in a video clip.

Soon after, a man was shot in the head and Rittenhouse was seen running. In a social media video, someone can be heard yelling "Get that dude."

Rittenhouse can be seen falling into the street, and as people try to disarm him, he fires his gun. He is then seen walking away, walking toward police with his arms up. Police pass him by.

His Facebook page, which was deactivated Wednesday morning after his bond court appearance, according to the Chicago Tribube, included a picture of him holding a long-arm rifle, framed with the “Blue Lives Matter” logo. Several posts also honored officers who died in the line of duty.

Rittenhouse has been a cadet with at least three police departments: Grayslake, Lindenhurst, and Hainesville. Social media photos show him in full uniform complete with a badge, arm patch and trooper-style campaign hat.

There is also video of him cheering on President Donald Trump from the front row of a rally in Iowa. Another video posted shows him firing a semi-automatic rifle at a target. According to the Tribune, the rifle in the video, which was posted earlier this month, appears identical to the one he was seen carrying Tuesday night.

Rittenhouse was arrested Wednesday morning in Antioch, where he lives with his mother. He was taken into custody as a fugitive from justice, wanted for first-degree intentional homicide in Kenosha.

He is being held at a Lake County juvenile detention facility pending a hearing on his potential extradition to Wisconsin, according to the sheriff’s office.

Two people were fatally shot and another was injured in a shooting Tuesday night in the area of 63rd Street and Sheridan Road, Kenosha police said, about a half mile away from where much of the night's protests had been going on in the area around the county courthouse.

The protesters moved there after having been involved in a confrontation with police near the county courthouse downtown that lasted for hours.

Authorities said they had not yet determined if there was more than one shooter involved. They would not answer questions about which death Rittenhouse was arrested for.

The village of Antioch has issued an emergency curfew order until further notice.

In a statement posted Wednesday on the village website, Antioch Mayor Lawrence M. Hanson ordered that a curfew be imposed on all persons within the village, effective from 8 p.m. to 7 a.m. each day, until further notice.

Hanson added the curfew order will be in effect "only as long as necessary and until this threatening situation no longer poses a threat to Antioch."
