CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- The west suburban man accused of plotting to detonate what he thought was a car bomb outside a Chicago bar when he was a teen has been sentenced to 16 years in federal prison.
Daoud, now 25, was arrested in September 2012 after allegedly pushing the detonator on a fake bomb that was supposed to blow up a Chicago bar. The fake explosive was given to him by an undercover federal agent, court records say.
Daoud entered a guilty plea and said last week in court he no longer wishes to harm anyone. Federal prosecutors had sought a 40-year sentence.
The sentence was handed down Monday in federal court.
