A quick thinking Disney World employee is being credited with helping a woman escape a domestic violence situation.
According to the Northern York County Regional Police Department in Pennsylvania, the incident took place on January 9 when the woman called and pretended to buy theme park tickets.
NBC Orlando affiliate WESH notes the ticket booker realized the woman was in distress as she was screaming “get off me” and “get away from me.”
The booker proceeded to ask the woman a series of “yes or no'' questions to get a better sense of the situation. When the employee asked if she was calling because she needed a trip, she said she wasn’t.
When the booker asked if she needed help, the woman said yes, so the employee proceeded to call 911 on her behalf.
When police arrived at her home, they learned that the woman was having an argument with her boyfriend, Wayne Shiflett, about his employment.
She reportedly wanted him to get a “real job” instead of selling fire extinguishers.
The outlet notes that during the argument, the 38-year-old choked the woman who said she was scared she was going to die.
Shiflett was taken to York County Jail and reportedly charged with strangulation, terroristic threats with intent to terrorize another and simple assault.
