CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- A person was arrested after allegedly shooting a CTA bus driver Saturday night in the Loop.
The bus driver, 34, was physically attacked and then shot by a male suspect about 8:50 p.m. in the first block of East Washington Avenue near the Chicago Cultural Center, Chicago police said.
He was shot in the jaw and was transported to Northwestern Memorial Hospital in serious condition, police said.
Shortly after the shooting, officers placed the gunman into custody and allegedly recovered a weapon, according to police.
Charges are pending, police said.
CTA president Dorval Carter called the incident "absolutely unacceptable" and said there’s no reason the men and women who serve the city should be subject to any kind of attack.
