1 dead, 4 wounded after multiple shootings Wednesday night in Waukegan

WAUKEGAN (WBBM NEWSRADIO) — The Waukegan Police Department is investigating two shooting incidents last night that left one person dead and four others wounded.

The first incident occurred around 8 p.m. Waukegan police said they responded to gunfire on the 2400 block of Greenwood Drive.

At the scene, police found two men with severe wounds. Police said one man, in his 30s, died from his wounds. He has not yet been identified.

The second man, in his 20s from Millburn, Illinois, survived and is recovering. Police said shots were believed to have been fired from a dark sedan. No further description was provided. They recovered shell casings at the scene.

A second incident occurred about two hours later, police said.

Three men were shot on the 4400 block of Melrose Avenue. They drove to a gas station, and from there the three men were taken by fire department ambulance to local hospitals.

All were expected to survive.

Police do not believe the shootings are connected. They're asking witnesses to come forward.
