CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Four people were wounded by gunfire Monday in Chicago, including a 12-year-old shot on Michigan Avenue downtown.
The girl was with a group of people in the first block of North Michigan Avenue when someone fired in their direction at about 8:30 p.m., police said. She was hit in the back and taken to Comer Children’s Hospital in serious condition. No arrests were made.
A 43-year-old man was wounded in a drive-by on the West Side around 6:30 p.m. He was moving moving from one tent to another in the 1900 block of South Canalport Avenue when a car drove by and someone inside fired shots, police said. He was struck in the leg and taken to Stroger Hospital in good condition.
Hours later, a 27-year-old woman was shot in her home in Lawndale on the West Side. Someone outside fired through her window in the 1900 block of South Homan Avenue at about 8 p.m., police said. She was struck in the shoulder and taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in good condition.
A woman was accidentally shot around 6 a.m. in Portage Park on the Northwest Side. The woman, 32, was with a group of people in the 3700 block of North Lockwood Avenue when a gun accidentally discharged, striking her in the right side of the chest, Chicago police said. The group left the area before officers arrived. The woman was taken to Illinois Masonic Medical Center in serious condition, police said.
Nine people were killed, and 23 others were wounded, in shootings last weekend in Chicago.
