15 people injured in Seneca boat fire, 1 airlifted to hospital in serious condition

Illinois State Police said one person was airlifted to a hospital and 15 others were injured after a boat caught fire at the Spring Brook Marina in Seneca, Ill., on Saturday.

Authorities responded to a call that a boat with 17 passengers on board had burst into flames around 4:30 p.m., at the marina in the 600 block of West River Drive.

State police said one of the victims was airlifted to a hospital in serious condition.

Fourteen others, including a Spring Brook Marina employee, were taken to hospitals with injuries not believed to be life-threatening.

Investigators are still trying to determine the cause of the fire.
