2 CPD officers hurt after crashing into wrong-way SUV in Gresham

CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - Two Chicago police officers were involved in a car crash on the South Side Thursday night.

It happened in the Auburn Gresham neighborhood shortly before 11:30 p.m. Police said officers in an unmarked car were heading west on 76th Street when they hit the side of an SUV traveling in the wrong direction on Yale Avenue. The collision pushed the officers’ vehicle into an unoccupied parked car.

The motorist was arrested and a gun was found in his Jeep, according to police.

The two officers and the motorist were taken to hospitals with minor injuries.
