
CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) — Chicago police are investigating two downtown shootings that occurred minutes apart early Saturday morning.
The first incident occurred at Wacker Drive and Madison Street at 1:08 a.m., and the second took place at Wacker Drive and State Street at 1:10 a.m.
In the first, police said two men were fighting in the street when someone fired shots from a red car.
A 32-year-old man was hit in the back.
He was taken to Northwestern Hospital in good condition.
In the second inciden, police said a 27-year-old man was walking on the sidewalk when a group of people began to beat him.
Someone pulled out a gun and shot the man in the head.
He, too, was taken to Northwestern Hospital in good condition.
Nobody is in custody in either shooting.
Detectives said they will be looking through surveillance video as they work to identify those involved.
There would be no shortage of witnesses with the Mexican Independence Day traffic in the area.
